Took me few goes to pin it down on the plate, but after that it was no problem....................... The carpet snake sauce was a bit harder to swallow mind! CWL

Speaking about food, I just had pickled herring (in tomato sauce), potatoes, sour cream and veggies.

Speaking about food, I just had pickled herring (in tomato sauce), potatoes, sour cream and veggies. That sounds very Scandinavian, Natt....they seem to go for things like that over there....healthy stuff, like!

Yeah, I think pickled herring is popular in East Europe and Germany as well.... though I think the combination with potatoes and sour cream is Scandinavian.

I used to work with a guy from South Africa who had a real thing about roll-mop herrings I have to say I cant remember ever eating fish of any type in Germany tho. It was very meat orientated there.

I've just had 3 small fillets of Rainbow Trout, a baked potato and slices of "orange pepper" done with the fish in the oven (the pepper was turning a bit soft so hence the oven...waste not want not!). By the way it was one of those "traffic lights" peppers....red, green & orange....another thing that I hesitate in the shop to buy...red or green, sod it I'll try orange for a change! Decisions in life, eh! ;D Wasn't for breakfast though!
