Yes, Milky, times were hard back then and shouldn't be forgotten....my mother came from a family of 10 and they all, amazingly, lived in a two bedroomed Tyneside flat in Preston Village, North Shields. We don't know how lucky we are these days but everything is relative I suppose.....I'm off to turn the central heating up!

when we were kids we used to "cowp wa creels" meaning simply doing forward rolls.

I always think a funny phrase, question, in the Geordie vernacular is:- "Where worwa?" as in "Where worwa last neet?"........."Where were we last night".........said quickly it makes me laugh! ;D Sounds like "wowa"!
