NEWCASTLE have made a £10m bid for Arsenal and Chelsea target Florian Thauvin. And French broadcaster RMC claims The Magpies have stepped up their interest in Thauvin, who they see as a perfect replacement for Yohan Cabaye.
Newcastle have made a structured £12m bid, matching that of Marseille.

For those of you out there that may not know about this there are times when a rumour or report is so mind blowing you just want it to be true regardless of whether it actually is, hence this story from over the weekend. Err! and no, Keegan isn't coming back again... Joe Kinnear thought he had spotted a special talent on a scouting trip to Birmingham – only to be told he was already a NEWCASTLE player, writes Alan Oliver in the Sunday People. Toon director of football Kinnear raved to City chiefs about midfielder Shane Ferguson during the club’s Capital One Cup tie against Swansea in September. But when he asked about signing him, Brum bosses thought he was winding them up – because Ferguson is on loan at St Andrews from Newcastle until the end of the season. Newcastle chiefs and manager Alan Pardew, who saw his side beat Chelsea 2-0 yesterday, were said not to be aware of Kinnear’s blunder. A City source told Sunday People Sport: “Ferguson had a particularly good game that night and Joe Kinnear told one of our officials he was interested in signing him. “At first our guy thought he was joking but then he realised Kinnear did not know Ferguson was already a Newcastle player.” The 22-year-old, who can play in midfield or at full-back, signed a five-year contract with Newcastle in 2011 but spent three months on loan at Birmingham last season. Blues boss and former Toon star Lee Clark agreed a deal in July to take the Northern Ireland international back on loan until the end of this season. His last Premier League appearance for Newcastle was last December in the 7-3 defeat at Arsenal. Apparently this was doing the rounds last month but no one picked up on it until it broke again over this weekend. Good to see The Toons Director of F*ckall maintaining his high standards and at the top of his game in the search for new talent. Lights Oot!

Not content with trying to sign players already on the books the rumours regarding the sale of Cabaye The Lad continue to circulate with JFK still nowhere to be found. Latest being that Roma (not our Admin after a new man) have identified the Magpies' France midfielder as the player they want to strengthen their squad to help them maintain their challenge for the Italian title. Roma boss Rudi Garcia is willing to make a £12million offer for Cabaye, who played under him at French club Lille for three years - winning the league and cup Double in 2011 - before being sold to the Toon. Not an issue over the price tag although I reckon Mikey will want more, it's that Italian Clubs generally don't like paying up front for players. They much prefer loan deals with a fixed price at the end of them or paying by installments. Don't see this one going anywhere given the way our most benevolent owner likes to deal in hard cash. Lights Oot!

Cabaye was slated by a lot of people for "going on strike"at the beginning of the season, how are these players who are touted around (even on Ashley`s own newspaper)supposed to react to all this guff!! By doing nothing!! its unbelievable. ATB

Dear Santa, can you please get NUFC's tight arsed owner to buy this player for my beloved team this Christmas... SC Heerenveen striker, Alfreð Finnbogason as the 24 year-old Icelandic forward has scored 38 goals in 42 games for the Dutch club since his move from Lokeren in August 2012, including 16 goals in 15 games this season. His scoring record is unmatched in the Eredivisie, and he currently stands 7th in the European goalscoring standings, only surpassed by Ronaldo, Diego Costa, Rossi, Ibrahimovic, Suarez and Lewandowski. He is a clinical finisher with great pace and very dangerous on counter-attack catching many a defence off guard. Loves to dribble with the ball, and would combine brilliantly with Remy or compliment the skills of Hatem Ben Arfa. He is also prepared to graft for the side and well-known for tracking back to help out in defence, which of course would be very welcome in a side which is renowned for defensive inconsistency. Due to the state of Dutch football the lad is also insanely cheap and could be allowed to leave current club, Heerenveen, for just £2m, Yes £2m! Virtually pocket money to our most benevolent owner So come on Santa get Mikey to put his hand in his pocket, get the deal done to make it a Black and White Christmas and happy New Year for everyone in The Toon Army. Lights Oot!

Great WL, now you've put the hoodoo on that one. You realize Mikey reads everything posted here. When he saw Leaze in the protest march video posted here threw a hissy and banned the Ronnie Gill FFS.

With just over two weeks to go until the January transfer window opens I suppose it shouldn't come as any surprise to see The Toon linked with several possible signings as well as some sales. I'll start with a potential sale simply because it comes via another Sh*t Direct exclusive in that it has emerged (nee idea where from other than the toss pots writing for Sh*t Direct News) Napoli are considering a move for Tim Krul for next season. The Italians are set to face the departure of loan star Pepe Reina in the summer as he looks likely to join Barcelona on a permanent deal from Liverpool, and SDN understands that Krul is one of the main candidates to replace the Spaniard in goal. The Dutch international has been in top form for Newcastle this season and has been linked with several top sides before, with Arsenal and AC Milan known to be among his admirers. Although Napoli are also weighing up several other options, such as Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois and Stoke City's Asmir Begovic, Krul is up there on Rafael Benitez's list as he eyes a top class shot-stopper for his side. The Naples outfit look likely to challenge for the title this season and will be odds-on to finish in the Champions League places, which would no doubt appeal to Krul if he seeks to take his career to the next level. More a case of our most benevolent owner taking his bank balance to the next level on the back of NUFC if you ask my opinion. Also expect something similar about Cabaye over the next two weeks as time moves closer to the window. On the incoming side The Toon are again being linked with a loan for Zaha from Manure, want away Aiden McGeady from Spartak and Olympiakos forward Konstantinos Mitroglou. No doubt further stories will emerge shortly regarding Ince, Gomis or just about any of the other 72 players the club were linked with during the summer as transfer targets. Of course nothing will actually happen until sanctioned by the man with the money. However having saved a few bob on Joe F*ckinhere's phone bill from all the Premier League and other managers in his little black book not answering, someone may arrive before the window closes but don't bet on it. Oh! nearly forgot, should by some means or other NUFC's Director of F*ckall manage to persuade Mikey to sign Dimitar Berbatov as reported in yesterday's Sunday People it's definitely all Leazes fault! Lights Oot!
