After 2 weeks of intense FPL action, a ride of rollercoatser emotions like no other and after the dust has settled it is time to review how it has all turned out.
Week 1 and charging out of the blocks was Magpie99 with his Benchwarmers storming into a 76 point lead. And when it looked like no one could catch him, out came Half an Alves up with a stunning score of 73 right at the end of the week. This was closely followed by Captain "Marvellous" on 54 and Polly 'Skipper' Peterborough with neat score of 51 and Alan Shearer on 48 (not yet identified). Bringing up the rear, and rather surprisingly was the Swedish Ace Natfare and the American Slugger Broon. Broon had a baptism by fire on his debut in the FPL and had a tough week. But his talent and potential is there for all to see and he has earned the nod of approval from his fellow competitors.
Week 2 saw Magpie chip away at the top with adding 57 more to finish on 133 closely followed by Half an Alves on 125. But the hand of experience spoke as the skipper delivered another neat and professional performance by scoring the highest score of the week at 61. CaptM and Alan Shearer stay in the hunt with creditable 45 and 47 respectively. Broon's showing signs of improvement already and is cause for concern for the guys ahead of him as he shapes his squad. And all eyes are on the veteran of 5 seasons in the FPL as we know it is not a matter of IF but WHEN Natty delivers the knockout blow and takes charge of the Renegades league.
All in all a great performance by the 7 competitors and all should be proud!
The league table as it stands,
Historically these leagues are never won by those who start well. It is won by the man who is willing to stick it out during the tough times, keeping pace with the pack and then delivering the knockout blow when the time is right. It is not about moments of brilliance but continued graft combined with tactical know-how and foresight. It is a battle of endurance and the one that survives will win!
With 36 weeks to go and hundred of points to gain, the title race is wide open!
Week 3 begins 1st of Sep! Get your teams ready!
